This week’s Member Moment features work by Sam Isle, who captures movement and light in such a way that captures immense mood and energy even in seemingly still moments. Scroll down to see his pictures and to read the interview!

PL: What got you interested in photography?
SI: Being an observant kid. I was just pointing at moments that stood out to me using old ipod touches, but one day a buddy let me use his camera at an event in highschool. I realized how much I enjoy being able to share how I see the world through this incredibly addicting art form. I got sucked in and love it more and more every day.

PL: What type of camera do you shoot with?

PL: When taking pictures, what are some objects or elements or feelings within a scene that inspire you to take a photo?
SI: I love capturing motion and emotion. How intense the motion/emotion is does not matter, I just want my pictures to feel like you, the viewer, were there as it was captured. To be honest, a lot of which is just being in the right place at the right time. It pays off to keep your eyes open.

PL: Of the pictures you submitted, can you share an interesting story about one?
SI: The bucking horse shot was from when I got the privilege to capture a rodeo in the middle of nowhere Texas; an environment far from my comfort zone. Shortly after this photo was taken I almost was trampled by a bison. Bison are really big.

PL: What do you enjoy most about digital/film photography and what is challenging about it?

PL: Do you have any goals or ideas of how you want to grow this collection of photographs?
