What We Liked: The perspective of the photo supports the brief illusion that our main subject is walking on water (but of course, we’re the wiser…). And the lone dead tree in the middle of this body of water adds great visual interest, its bare branches half in shadow, half pale white. He and the tree stand out greatly, being the only signs of life in the landscape, with nothing in the foreground but water and nothing in the background but a sea of green-blue mountains. Ultimately the composition, making the scene feel so surreal, set this submission apart.
