What We Liked: Moody and atmospheric, this image draws the viewer in with its lighting and textures. The figure into the doorway immediately catches our attention, backlit by bright fluorescent light in the dead of night. Obscured by shadow and glass, the figure stands as both watcher and subject. The yellow and red hues of the image complement each other and allow the cool blue-white of the fluorescent to stand out. The longer one looks at the image, one notices little details like the snowy sidewalk and the protest posters, which add narrative depth and social context to the scene.
