What We Liked: Although today is the first day of summer and we are craving some UV on the sand, this picture captures a deeper connection with the beach and ocean.
The two folks holding hands look as though they are about to run into the water toward the incoming wave, rather than tiptoe away from it as the water rushes up to them. Being peacefully observant, we can see a sense of respect translated between humans and nature in this small sliver of time and place captured.
The wash of blues and tans create a melancholy palette, quite the opposite of what we are used to seeing in more classic, summer-fun beach pictures.
Of course, the beach is often best enjoyed in a swimsuit and with the burning sand between your toes, but we should take a moment and recognize it’s still there, even when we aren’t necessarily enjoying it during prime time.
