Season Two of PhotoLounge Presents

Beyond the Gallery

Season Two of PhotoLounge Presents Starts Now!

PhotoLounge Presents started as a small series of interviews with local artists in Philadelphia. It solely lived on Instagram, gained a wide following and continued to run, including artists from around the world. Malcolm Lombardi has been the creator, curator and designer for this first season of PhotoLounge Presents. As season one came to a close and as PhotoLounge expanded into a new space we wanted to celebrate the success of the series by making it into a gallery show. To mark the ending of season one, PhotoLounge Presents Retrospective is currently on view in our new gallery until July 30, 2021.
Now, we are very excited to start season two of PhotoLounge Presents with our new curator and designer Tessa Wrice. Here is a little bit about her:

"I am a 21 year old photographer, born and raised in Philadelphia. I started photography at 13 after picking up my mom's old Nikon DSLR and hooking it to a tripod that was lying around the house. What began as self-portraits and quick shoots quickly turned into styled portrait sessions with friends and clients and it was then that I realized just how much I enjoyed expressing myself through images. I grew up knowing that I wanted to have a career in the arts coming from a family of artists including my brother, great aunt, grandfather, and great grandmother whose old film cameras I now shoot with today. I find a lot of inspiration in the everyday life of others and have always been fascinated by the idea of no two peoples' days being exactly the same. Capturing the varying human experiences, what makes us the same and what makes us different, is what is most important to me as an artist and what constantly motivates me to pull out my camera and shoot."

We look forward to seeing the artists she interviews and their work and plan to have our next PhotoLounge Presents Retrospective in 2022.
