Contest Poem: "Vagueness of the Moment"
Prize: A $50 gift card for film processing and a free 8x10” fine art print!
Winner: @meyina009
What We Liked: Inspired by a poem excerpt from Elisa Gabbert, this image best captured the feeling behind the lines. There’s emotional depth in an outstretched hand reaching into the wind—a sense of yearning, appreciation for life and the moment, peacefulness, and a desire for more. We loved the motion blur from the moving car; you can almost feel the air brushing against your own skin. The high-contrast shadows inside the car create a great visual style, which we liken to an abstract painting.
“I play an eight-hour track of rain sounds on windows.
All day on a loop. The sky is too high.
And I want to feel crushed.
The vagueness of the moment
Has a crispness in memory,
Like mountains from a distance.”
