What We Liked: Showcasing dramatic composition and a duo-chromatic color scheme, this image was selected for how it immediately engages the viewer. The woman’s pose offers a visually dynamic route for the eye to follow, whether you start at the sword, her hands, or her feet, your eye is drawn around and ‘round, exploring the subtle changes in hue from the darkest shadows to the brightest highlights. Meanwhile, the rainy atmosphere adds texture to the background, while the red halo of light behind her offers valuable contrast that prevents her from blending into the dark background. The vibes are like Kurosawa meets Lynch… or something like that.
