Why should I digitize my video tapes?
If you’re like most families, you probably haven’t had a VHS player to watch these home videos in a long time. So viewing them again — fully enhanced with the latest digital tools, available on any device, and safely preserved to share — truly feels like magic.
What types of tapes do you accept?
We accept all major tape formats for digitizing, including VHS, Hi8, Digital8, VHS-C, MiniDV, and Betamax.
Does my order have to contain tapes of the same kind?
Nope! You can mix different tape formats in the same order - we can digitize a mix of these formats.
What is the standard resolution for digitizing?
The resolution of your digitized files depends on the original format. For example, a VHS tape was originally recorded in standard definition (around 480p), so the digitized version will match that resolution. We ensure that the quality of your original is preserved.
What happens if a tape is blank?
We'll issue you a refund for any tapes that end up being blank or a recording of TV shows. If you're not certain about a tape, there is no risk to you – so feel free to include it with the rest of your items!
How will I receive the digital videos?
You'll get your digitized movie reels easily online through Dropbox, plus a free subscription to the Projector Stream App for streaming and sharing on any device. We’ll help you at every step.
How easy is it to share the digital copies with my family and friends?
Super easy! With your free Projector Stream App subscription, you can watch all your digitized videos just like Netflix. You can easily give your family and friends access to watch your old home movies from anywhere, on any device.
Will I receive my original video tapes back?
Yes, definitely, unless you specifically request we safely discard them.
How long will it take to receive the digitized movie reels?
We offer fast turnaround times — typically 5–10 business days. Drop off your video tapes at our Center City Philadelphia photo lab, or request a courier pickup anywhere in Philadelphia or the surrounding suburbs to get your digitized files back quickly.
