Welcome to this issue of PHOTOLounge Customer Spotlight. This month features Sarah Green as she shares her photos and some words about how photography plays a role in her life.
1. What role do pictures play in your life or work?

They are my life and my work. Photography to me is more a passion than a job, and hopefully it will stay that way for a while at least.
2. What do you take pictures of?
Mostly people. People fascinate me, I think that everybody has so much good in them, and so much love to offer, I hope my photos reflect that.
3. What inspires you to take pictures?
Life, other photographers, seeing great photos. Being impacted by a great photo is like being lost in time. I will never forget when I first discovered photojournalism. It gave me hope in the world around me, and photographers like Clarence Williams and Carolyn Cole inspired me to strive to express myself through my lens.
4. Describe your camera and what is involved in printing your images?
Right now I shoot with a Nikon D70 and unfortunately don’t print very often. Everything is so digital now. When I print of course I use Cbop, but I miss making black and white prints in the darkroom.

5. Do you share and exhibit your printed work?
I don’t think I do enough of that, but I try to get myself involved in friend’s gallery showings. However, sometimes I just sit in Rittenhouse Square with a handful of prints and try to sell them to the people in the park.
6. How does the PhotoLounge help you present your vision?
They literally help me present it. I get all my color photos printed there and the setup is so practical that I enjoy going to drop off photos.

7. Tell us about the pictures you shared
(From top to bottom)
Last fall the Roots put on a free show at City Hall and being the Hip-hop heads that we are, my friend Alisha and I were right up front with the lights flashing on us.
My friend Rafael let me hang out while he shaved his face, his room has so much of his character in it and I tried to capture a little bit of that.
I was in Chennai, India and these girls were showing me around their neighborhood. Our communication was limited but they were so proud of everything they showed me, which is within itself was absolutely beautiful.
The light in this photo was so reflective of the entire moment. Buddhism is a very peaceful religion and the prayers and meditation are as calming as this photo looks.
Every so often I feel the need to really express myself artistically. Luckily I have great friends who are willing to participate without any direction.
This guy was chopping meat and smoking a cigarette in an outdoor meat market I was at and the colors were too beautiful too pass up.
When I studied abroad I was really focused on how similar everyone in the world is and who can’t relate to going to the barber? Not to mention how naturally beautiful the light and composition of the photo were.
Again in Chennai, this was a man weaving silk for the Sari shop located above the room he was in.
This was one of those universal caught in your own world moments. He was definitely taking a nap on the train, so I took the opportunity to snap a photo or two.
